A HBG® Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) is a type of blood test that measures how quickly erythrocytes (red blood cells) settle at the bottom of a test tube that contains a blood sample. Normally, red blood cells settle relatively slowly. A faster-than-normal rate may indicate inflammation in the body. Inflammation is part of your immune response system. It can be a reaction to an infection or injury. Inflammation may also be a sign of a chronic disease, an immune disorder, or other medical condition.

Description

An Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) is a test for ﬁnding out presence of inﬂammation or infections in the body. Disposable Polymed ESR Pipette: Made of Optically clear Polystyrene material. Uniformly graduated from 0-180mm. ESR tubes measure the rate at which red blood cells settle out of plasma. Westergren sedimentation rate tubes may be used for the standard procedure, by drawing blood in a liquid sodium citrate vacuum tube, or the modified procedure, using a saline-diluted EDTA vacuum tube.
